West Sulawesi is
the expansion province of South Sulawesi province. The capital is Mamuju city.
West Sulawesi is known as tourism destination. Besides cocoa, this area is also
producing robusta coffee or Arabica coffee, coconut, and clove. In mining
sector there is the content of gold, coal, and petroleum.West Sulawesi is
divided into the following regencies: Majene Regency, Mamasa Regency, Mamuju

Mamuju as the
capital city of the province. Administratively, the province is divided into 5
Regencies. Geographically, the province is located in the cross position of the
golden Triangle of South Sulawesi, East Kalimantan and Central Sulawesi as well

Topographic condition of West Sulawesi Province comprises ocean, low land and
high land, has enabled the province to have fertile land. Climate in the region

33rd and officially opened since October 5, 2004 under Law no. 26 of 2004.
Mamuju and the provincial capital is composed Polewali Mandar, Mamasa, Majene,
Mamuju and North Mamuju.
Territory located on the
coast of West Sulawesi and the location is very strategic because it is the
gateway triangle that connects the province of South Sulawesi, Central
Sulawesi, East Kalimantan, so that an area 11057.81 km2 area before it bloomed
dubbed "golden triangle". Borders in the north with Kabupalen
Donggala Central Sulawesi province, the Southern District and the District
Polmas Majene on the East by Tator and Luwu District and bounded on the west by
the Straits of Makassar.
Demands separation from
South Sulawesi province has begun public in the region Ex Afdeling Mandar since
before Indonesia's independence. Furthermore, Polewali-Mamasa also separated
into two separate districts namely Polewali and Mamasa district.

History
Several kingdoms used to exist here,
fourteen to be exacts. They are Balanipa, Banggae, Bambang, Binuang, Pamboang,
Sendana, Tappalang, Mamuju, Rante Bulahan, Aralie, Mambi, Tabulahan, Matangga
and Tabang. Right now West Sulawesi is known for its cocoa, coffee (robusta and
arabica), clove and coconut. Gold, coal and oil mining also help to make this
province more prosperous. West Sulawesi became a separate province in 2004,
through Law no. 26. It used to be a part of South Sulawesi.
Mamuju Regency
Mamuju Regency is one of regency area
in West Sulawesi, Indonesia. The wide of this area (before it has expansion
program) is 11.057,81 km_. The residents' number of this regency is 296.229
men. Mamuju regency reside in West Sulawesi coastal area, its situation is very
strategic because it is triangle gateway, which connected South Sulawesi
Province - Central Sulawesi - East Kalimantan, so the 11057,81 km2 width area
(before bloomed) called as 'gold triangle area'. Mamuju Regency has great
natural resources, especially agriculture sector that cover plantation,
forestry, fishery and breeding sub sector. The distance from provincial capital
is 455 Km.

Mandar people have been known for
centuries for their seafaring abilities. They are dominant in this area, but
you can also find Toraja, Bugis, Makassarese, Javanese and others here. Using
their sandeq boat, Mandar people cruise to all over Indonesia and even reaching
as far as neighboring country of Malaysia and Australia. Meanwhile, the people
who live in mountanious area of the province have cultural similarity with
Torajan ethnic in terms of architecture of the house. Their language, their
clothes as well as in their traditional ceremony. West Sulawesi Province has

restaurants. Pupu, fried tuna fish cakes, should also be sampled. Generally
West Sulawesi dishes are spicy, a bit sour and they taste very delicious.

0o 530 100 to 2o 540 520 South Latitude and 118o 540 470 until 120o 050 350
East Longitudes. The boundaries are:

South side: Majene regency and Polmas regency
East side : Tator regency and Luwu

8 sub-districts and 119 villages.
Demography
Population regency for 2002 is 323,692
people consist of 163,498 or 50.5% of men and 160,194 or 49.5% of women with
people growth 5.36% average annually. The highest density occurs in Mamuju
regency about 181 people/Km2 and the lowest occurs in Kalumpang district that
attains six people/Km2.
Topography
Mamuju has long coastal line, which
achieves about 400 Km that is extended from south to the north (includes
coastal line of the islands). Generally, topographical types of this regency
consist of highland, lowland and coastal line.

Mamasa regency are ox livestock, buffalo, horse, goat, and pig. While for
poultry type is local chicken, race chicken, and local duck.
In breeding sector, Majene regency has
big livestock potency expansion like buffalo, ox, Horse, Goat and also small
livestock, and poultry like duck, race chicken and local chicken, which its
population is always grew, special is big livestock like goat are looked after
by the public for other and local requirement, while for inter island trade as
